December 16th, 2011 – Montessory School Grades K-8

A Montessory School will host a labyrinth in the gymnasium for the second time. The labyrinth will be constructed out of non-perishable foods, which will be donated after the event. The children will be able to ask questions, draw pictures, and enjoy walking through the labyrinth.

Labyrinth Walk for World Peace May 7th 2011

Located at the Capuchin Retreat Center, 62460 Mt. Vernon Washington MI. www.capretreat.org All monies donated were given to the Michigan Military Moms to help with shipping and supplies needed by our service men and women.

Erica Chappius, who is a local artist, painted what was her version of “peace”. The painting was of the Three Graces. Faith, Hope and Charity, also known as Love. This candle between them is lit with a beautiful, soft dove. Erica generously donated her framed painting to be auctioned off. The highest bidder of this painting was a person who had carried a modest gift of money, given to her by a cherished, and close friend who had passed away very suddenly. The money came with instructions that said , please buy yourself something from me. The purchaser had carried that money, looking for something that really touched her heart for over two years. The painting not only touched her heart, but her soul as well. We both cried with sadness and happiness together.

May 7th, 2011 is World Labyrinth Day. This is an Earthday dedicated as International Peace Day. People all over the world who have access to a labyrinth will be walking the labyrinth as a sign of Peace for the world.

July 23rd 2011 Fairy Tale Festival – Edsel and Eleanor Ford House

This Enchanted Labyrinth has a Magic Wishing Well in the center. The entire labyrinth is constructed of beautiful handmade red pinwheels with beads that glisten in the sun. Nestled between tall trees and gardens of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores is where the labyrinth will call home until about the end of September, 2011.

This Fairy Tale Festival event included the Cinderella carriage and Mother Goose from the Detroit Parade Company, The Michigan Philharmonic Orchestra, The Grosse Pointe Theatre’s Youth on Stage, Magic Carpet Ride Theatre, Disney Radio, Parent Magazine, and professional Michigan Storytellers.

The Magic Wishing Well held hundreds of wishes written down by children, and parents, placed there as they walked to the center of the labyrinth.
